Staying Healthy
Novo Nordisk provides you and your family with a range of services that help keep you healthy – physically and financially. Because when you're recovering from an illness or injury, you want to be able to concentrate on getting better. Our range of benefits helps make that possible.
Medical
You can choose from three types of medical plans on your first day of work. Novo Nordisk pays almost all of the cost of the monthly premium for you and your eligible dependents if you elect a PPO or HMO which translates into very small payroll deductions for your health care. A traditional indemnity option is also available with higher contributions.
Prescription Drug Plan
Prescriptions are covered at 100%. Your cost: just $5 for generics; $10 for brand preferred and $15 for brand non-preferred. A convenient mail-order program is available for maintenance prescription drugs. Coverage begins on day one.
Dental
You can elect dental coverage for you and your eligible family members on your first day of employment. Choose between an indemnity and an HMO plan. Novo Nordisk pays 100% of the monthly premium.
Employee Assistance Program
The Employee Assistance Program provides confidential, professional assessment and referral services to you and your family members - at no cost to you. Coverage begins on day one.
Sick Leave
Eligible for up to 10 days per calendar year - starting on your first day.
Short-Term Disability
Benefits provide up to 100% of your base salary for up to six months if you can't work due to an extended illness or injury. The company pays the full cost for this coverage, which begins on day one.
Long-Term Disability
Benefits provide 60% of your base salary after extended sick-time benefits end. Novo Nordisk pays the full cost for this basic coverage. You can purchase additional coverage that increases your long-term disability protection to 70% of base salary.
Retiree Health Plan
Even after you retire, you can participate in a comprehensive health plan, which includes medical, dental, and prescription drug coverage. All employees are entitled to this supplementary coverage for retirees as long as they have completed 10 years of full-time service and have reached the age of 55.
Long Term Care Insurance
Optional coverage which provides a specific daily benefit when an illness or injury requires institutional care (e.g. nursing home) or non-institutional care (e.g. adult day care). Coverage is available for you, your spouse, your parents and your spouse's parents at lower group rates.
Critical Illness Insurance
Optional coverage designed as a complement to your current medical coverage, Critical Illness Insurance pays a lump-sum benefit payment if you or your covered dependent(s) experience one of six covered medical conditions - Cancer, Heart Attack, Stroke, Kidney Failure, Major Organ Transplant or Coronary Artery Disease.
Health Advocate
A service that provides assistance with claims and billing problems, complex medical conditions, elder care issues, scheduling appointments with hard-to-reach specialists and much more.
