Following diagnosis, young people with type 1 diabetes are faced with new challenges and responsibilities that their peers may not experience.
DAWN Youth is one of Novo Nordisk’s major global leadership initiatives that helps to understand and address the diabetes attitudes, wishes and needs of children and young people who already have or at risk of developing diabetes, and their caregivers.
In an effort to address issues identified in the DAWN Youth WebTalk Survey and further explore what teens and young adults living with type 1 diabetes want and need to better their lives, Novo Nordisk, in partnership with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and Discovery Health, hosted an innovative interactive forum for youth in New York City on World Diabetes Day, November 14, 2008.
We also partnered with Discovery Health and JDRF to develop six video shorts, three of which were featured at the Forum. Each video showcases a teen/young adult sharing how they deal with life transitions while managing their type 1 diabetes.
View the videos and see what teens and young adults are saying about life with diabetes.
Headquartered in Denmark, Novo Nordisk is a global health care company with 90 years of innovation and leadership in diabetes care. The company also has leading positions within hemophilia care, growth hormone therapy, and hormone therapy.
