We are committed to supplier diversity and to practices that help ensure the integrity of our program. Novo Nordisk provides products and services to major business entities in the private sector, as well as government agencies that comprise the public sector. Each sector defines diverse suppliers uniquely. If you wish to explore the possibility of supplying the products and services that we buy through our diverse supplier initiative, novoDSI, you must first become certified to participate in our program. Information regarding the various classifications of diverse suppliers, along with links to organizations that provide certifications, is provided below.

Private Sector

There are 6 classifications of diverse suppliers in the private sector that are currently tracked under NovoDSI. They are:

  • Women-Owned Business Enterprises (WBE) and Women-Owned Small Businesses (WOSB)
    For-profit enterprises located in the U.S.A. with at least 51% ownership by one or more female U.S. citizens.

  • Small Businesses
    For-profit businesses located in the U.S.A. that are independently owned, operate primarily within the U.S.A. or make a significant contribution to the U.S. economy through payment of taxes or use of American products, materials or labor and are not dominant in their field on a national basis.

  • Small Disadvantaged Businesses (SDB)
    A for-profit business located in the U.S.A. with at least 51% ownership by one or more U.S. citizens who are both socially and economically disadvantaged.

  • Veteran and Small Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Businesses
    A for-profit business located in the U.S.A. with at least 51% ownership and controlled by a U.S. citizen(s) who is a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces, and or, by one or more service-disabled veterans.

  • HUBZone-Based Businesses
    A for-profit business located in a historically underutilized business zone and at least 35% of its employees reside in a Hub Zone area.
