Pia D’ Urbano is Senior Vice President, Marketing for Novo Nordisk Inc. since September 1, 2020. She is responsible for leading the organization’s marketing efforts in diabetes and obesity that enhance growth and patient reach.
Prior to that, she was Corporate Vice President, Biopharmaceuticals for Novo Nordisk Inc. She headed marketing and sales for Novo Nordisk’s medicines for rare diseases in blood and endocrine disorders with the goal of improving access to treatment and care and strengthening understanding of these conditions among key stakeholders and customers. During her tenure, she and her teams brought several new innovative biological medicines to U.S. patients.
Ms. D’ Urbano has 29 years of healthcare business experience in primary, specialty and rare diseases across many therapeutic areas. Her expertise spans marketing, sales, new product planning, business development, strategic planning and alliance development.
Prior to joining Novo Nordisk, Ms. D’ Urbano was Vice President and Head of US Public Affairs & Advocacy at Sanofi Pharmaceuticals. Previously, she was Vice President and Head of US Dermatology and Respiratory Biologics Business Unit, Marketing and Sales. She also served as Vice President and Head of New Products Launch Unit, North America and Associate Vice President, Commercial Brand Marketing Head for the US Oncology business. Her leadership roles also included serving as co-chair of WISE (Women Inspiring Sanofi Excellence) from 2008-2010, which led sanofi-aventis US to win the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA) ACE Award in 2010.
Ms. D’ Urbano has also held a variety of international and global marketing and sales roles at Glaxo-Wellcome and Bristol-Myers Squibb.
Ms. D’ Urbano holds a marketing degree from Vanier College as well as a Bachelor of Commerce/Business from Concordia University, both in Montreal, Canada.
