Markus Straarup is the Vice President, Strategy & Executive Office for Novo Nordisk US Operations, a role he assumed in January 2025. Markus leads the Strategy and Executive Office function and is responsible for the overall strategy in the US market and working with senior leadership to ensure strategic priorities are translated into coordinated, measurable actions across the organization.
Markus has more than 15 years of progressive experience at Novo Nordisk. He joined the company in 2010 as a Student Assistant in Corporate Financial Planning and has worked in Denmark, Indonesia, and US affiliate, with roles in Product Supply, Corporate Strategy, Finance, and Consulting. This has given him deep insight into the business and the global value chain. Throughout his tenure, Markus has led high-impact, cross-functional programs and delivered strategic initiatives that drive growth and operational excellence.
Beyond his formal responsibilities, Markus is an active leader committed to talent development, inclusion, and external engagement. He is the Executive Sponsor of HOLA (Hispanics & Latinos at Novo Nordisk), which works to make a positive impact on our business through professional development and awareness. Known for his collaborative leadership style and strategic focus, Markus is dedicated to building high-performing teams and delivering long-term value for patients, customers, and stakeholders.
Markus holds a B.Sc. in International Business, an M.Sc. in Finance & Strategic Management from Copenhagen Business School, and a Master of International Management from CEMS.
